My wellness journey began after the cesarean birth of my last baby while serving in the United States Air Force. During my pregnancy, the medical professionals failed to accurately diagnose me with gestational diabetes. This condition led to an enormous amount of weight gain that caused me to become morbidly obese. After many weight loss programs, fad diets, and quick weight loss schemes, I found that eating right for your blood type and functional daily exercises was the ultimate key for fat loss. I became motivated to change the lives of others when my grandmother, who was present during all three of my cesareans, passed at the age of 93. My grandmother was like no other; she was vibrant and outgoing. She lived on her own, drove her car long distances, all while still dating! One day she decided to take a relaxing bath and unfortunately, she did not have the strength to pull herself out of the tub. My grandmother was stuck in the bathtub for over 36 hours. After that incident, she began to slowly decline in mental and physical health. Her will to recover faded and in less than 12 months, she passed. I believe that if she had continued strength training before her accident, she may have had more time. I have now decided to dedicate my life to holistic wellness. I believe you can live well with chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, IBS, and incontinence. I know firsthand that food is medicine and if you eat according to your blood type, in addition to performing functional exercises, you have the perfect recipe for a better quality of life.
